Youth Sports Camps

Triple Threat Basketball Summer Camp led by Matt Swank

For Incoming 1st Graders – 11th Graders  •  Instructor: Matt Swank
1st–3rd Grade: 8:00–9:45am  •  4th–6th Grade: 10:00am–noon  •  7th Grade & Up: 1:00–3:00pm


The focus of each camp is to become a "triple threat" by teaching ball handling, shooting skills, and passing techniques necessary to experience success on the basketball court in a simple, fun, and understandable way. We want to encourage each camper to love the Lord Jesus Christ, show improvement in their basketball fundamentals, and develop a heart for excellence in everything they do.

Registration is closed but walk-up registrations are welcome.

Get to Know Matt Swank
Matt Swank is the head middle school coach of Central Christian Academy (2nd year). Matt is a former three-year starter and the winningest player in Sterling College history. He also played on the 2008 3A Kansas State Championship basketball team. He is a 4th grade teacher at CCA and has many years of working with kids in camp atmospheres.

Softball/Baseball Batting Camp led by Tina Nickel

Tina will train players of all ages on the basics of hitting and will help them become more confident behind the plate. Learning how to build a strong foundation in baseball/softball as well as in Christian living is a goal of this camp.

Get to Know Tina Nickel
Tina Nickel played Division 1 softball at WSU and coached six years at the college level at Friends University, earning Coach of the Year three times. She coached club teams from 1995-2016 and taught baseball/softball hitting overseas. She has played against top Olympic training teams in China, Thailand, and Africa through an organization called Competitive  International, a Christian organization. Sharing her faith through sports is part of who she is in Christ. Currently, she is the hitting coach for Bethel College, she owns her own business, Nickel’s Worth Performance, and does private batting instruction.

Victory Soccer Camp values the disciplines that make an athlete successful and teaches how to
apply them to daily living. We have created an atmosphere to encourage children to score a
victorious Christian life.

Victory Soccer camp provides professional quality soccer instruction and excellent curriculum
that helps to make the Bible come alive. Being an athlete is not required. This camp is designed for
students with various levels of athletic ability. They’ll learn to combine excellence in sports with a
relationship with Christ.

Meet Goran Hunjak
Goran Hunjak was born and raised in Croatia, Europe. He played 19 years of professional soccer
both indoor and outdoor in Europe and the U.S. He has also coached a professional team for 4
years. God blessed him with a long pro career, achieving many awards and playing in 18 different
countries.

Goran enjoys working with youth and feels compelled to pass his soccer knowledge to all ages. He
wants to help them improve their skill level, gain confidence, and develop a positive self-image.
Most importantly, Goran wants to help people understand that God loves all people and that God
demonstrated His love by giving and sacrificing Jesus Christ, His only Son, to die for all people.

Jen and Tina are teaming up with their love of volleyball to put on a dynamic volleyball camp which will focus on all aspects of the game! Camp devotions include sports-minded concepts which are applicable to volleyball players. Both boys and girls are welcome!

Meet the Coaches
JEN MCCURDY has coached all levels of volleyball athletes from 8 and 9-year-olds at camps to club teams and NCAA Division I athletes at Northern Arizona University. 

TINA NICKEL, Sports Director at Central Christian Church, played for Wichita Elite Volleyball Club in high school and then played at Garden City Community College for two years, winning a conference league championship in 1992. Tina was the head coach for both volleyball and softball from 1997-2003 at Friends University and also served as the Assistant Athletic Director.

Meet Coach Dave
David Yordy (Coach Dave) and his wife, Lindsey, have enjoyed leading sports camps since 2007.
They have offered Dodgeball Camps since 2008, and lead over 20 different Dodgeball Games! They also
enjoy sharing Jesus Christ with the campers and seeing them grow in character and sportsmanship.

This is an advanced basketball camp. We will be preparing both physically and mentally to improve and succeed. This will be an intense camp where the students of the game will have the opportunity to work hard to improve their ball handling, shooting, and passing skills. We will also spend time recovering and studying the mental aspect of basketball as well as different offensive and defensive in-game concepts. We will breakdown film of some of the best college and professional players to observe the specific skillset needed to compete at their level. This will be a physically and mentally challenging camp. Be prepared to work hard. Our goal is continual improvement and excellence at every level. For players that love basketball and are looking to improve, this camp is for them!
